LIPS Cosmetic Surgery

Lip enhancement, lip reduction or filling with injectables? A cosmetic procedure or plastic surgery may be able to help make your lips more beautiful and give you more self-confidence.

With age the upper lip tends to droop and the red of the lips becomes narrower. This symptom of the aging process can be corrected with a simple "butterfly correction".

Your lips too thick or too full

It is possible to reduce the size of your lips.

Through a small incision the plastic surgeon turns the excess red of the lips inwards. The scar is hidden in the mouth and is therefore invisible.

This procedure is performed under a general anaesthetic and last about an hour. The lips will be swollen and bruised for about 2 weeks. After 6 weeks the definite result is visible.

Lip augmentation

Lip augmentation with injectable lip fillers provides pleasing results in as little as 30 minutes.

The results with injectable lip fillers are temporary because the body eventually breaks down and absorbs the filler. The length of time the results last varies with each individual, but the average is generally five to six months.

Your lips are too thin or the red part of the lips is too narrow? It is possible to enhance the lips.

If an injection is not effective because the red of the lips is too inverted then it can be enlarged by turning the red of the lips from the inside of the lips outwards.

This procedure is performed with a general anaesthetic and lasts about an hour. The lips may be swollen and bruised for about two weeks. This procedure can be combined with an injectable filler.

You have to wait a few months before the scars from a Lip-Plasty fully mature. You may experience a little discomfort when moving the lips for a few weeks. A temporary loss of sensation in the lips is possible. Sometimes the scar tissue can remain lumpy and sensitive for a longer period.

Lip Augmentation with Fat Transfer

For patients who desire fuller, plumper lips but are reluctant to inject foreign materials into their body, lip augmentation with fat transfer is a great solution.

Lip augmentation with fat transfer utilizes your body’s own tissue, giving you soft, natural-looking results.

Lip augmentation with fat transfer involves removing fat from one area of the body and injecting it into the lips. During fat transfer, only the body’s natural tissue is used, so rejection or allergic reaction rarely occurs. After the procedure, patients are left with soft, natural-feeling results that last from six months to more than a year.

The Fat Transfer Procedure

In the lip augmentation with fat transfer procedure, fat is first removed from a location on the patient’s body (usually the abdomen or thighs) with liposuction. This will not produce a noticeable effect in the removal site unless the lip augmentation procedure is being performed in conjunction with a body liposuction procedure. The fat is subsequently injected into the lips with a syringe and blunt needle. The injections leave only tiny prick marks, about 0.2 centimeters in diameter.

Lip augmentation with fat transfer is typically performed under local anesthesia or light general anesthesia.

One of the main benefits of the procedure is that it is very rare for a patient to have an allergic reaction or to reject the tissue, as it is taken from the patient’s own body. The results are supple and natural. It is also a simple outpatient procedure, requiring only a few hours recovery time before the patient can go home and resume normal activity.
